About Willow Withies

willowWillow Withies is situated in the Heart of the National Forest...

The National Forest is approximately 200 square miles and spans across three counties in the East Midlands, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. It incorporates the towns of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Swadlincote and Burton-upon-Trent.

Willow Withies has a plantation in excess of 76,000 withies. Harvesting of the willows takes place usually after the first frost when all the leaves have left the rods which means the withies are dormant, usually the October/November. Planting is recommended between February and April.

The plantation is run by a member of the Basket Makers Association, this understanding ensures that our products meet the requirement of those who work with willow.

We offer thirteen different varieties of willow for Landscape enhancement, artistic sculptures and basketry. The willow varies in colour, height and width of rod and age. We harvest, grade and bundle all our willow by hand. All orders are taken strictly on a first come first served basis.

We also offer a range of Do-It-Yourself Willow Kits this allows everyone in the family to take part in creating an area of interest, watching it grow and play in it or use it.

If you are planning a willow project and require further information please feel free to contact us for advice. If we cannot help you we will know someone who can!
